Pays For As

What Alpine Bank pays for — and what we believe a bank should be responsible for in the community it serves.

A bank's balance sheet is only half the story.

The other half is what it does with the money it earns. Here's a plain accounting of what Alpine Bank pays for in the communities we serve — written out, on purpose, so you can hold us to it.

01 Our Employees

We pay for our people first

Every Alpine Bank employee earns a living wage, gets health coverage, and has access to a retirement plan — including part-time staff. We pay for ongoing training, tuition reimbursement, and paid volunteer time, because the bank is only as good as the people in it.

We don't outsource branches to third-party contractors and we don't use staffing agencies to hide our headcount. The person helping you at the counter is an Alpine Bank employee, not a temp.

02 Our Community

We pay for what our community needs

Every year we give a meaningful percentage of our profits back to the communities we serve — not as a marketing budget, but as a real commitment to the places our customers live and work.

That includes scholarships for graduating seniors, financial literacy programs in schools, sponsorships for local events and youth sports, and donations to food banks, shelters, and emergency services. We publish our community giving totals annually so anyone can see where the money went.

03 Our Customers

We pay for the things other banks charge for

No monthly maintenance fees on basic checking. No fees for using an out-of-network ATM. No overdraft fee for small mistakes — we cover the first one each year at no charge. No fee to talk to a person on the phone.

Where other banks have added fees for basic services, we've removed them. It costs us money to do that, and we're fine with it — because a bank that nickel-and-dimes its customers isn't really a bank we'd want to run.

04 Our Future

We pay for the long term

We invest in cybersecurity, fraud prevention, and infrastructure that protects customer money and data — even when it hurts the quarterly numbers. We keep branches open in small towns where they aren't profitable because those communities need a bank.

We don't chase short-term profits at the expense of the people who trust us with their savings. That's not a marketing slogan — it's how we've operated for over two decades, and it's how we intend to keep operating.
